B.D.I. (Basic Driver Improvement), TCAC (Traffic Collision Avoidance Course) Court Ordered.

Basic Driver Improvement (BDI)  - Four Hour Course

Students who have received a driving violation and elect to complete this course to avoid points, insurance penalties ( in most instances) and /or to retain a “safe driver” status, will generally elect  the “BDI” course.  Typically, in order to ensure that a completion will be acceptable to the Clerk of Court in the county where the citation (ticket) was issued, the citation recipient (student) must sign an Affidavit with the Clerk of the Court attesting to their compliance before completing the course.

The student will be responsible for making sure they get credit for completing the BDI course.

Traffic Collision Avoidance Course (TCAC)  -  Four Hour Course

Students referred to as “TCAC” are persons involved in certain types of traffic crashes that must attend TCAC/BDI course.  Referrals to this course are typically accompanied by a notification in a form of a letter sent to the driver licensee’s address on record at the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DMSMV).  The DTA Program for Driver Improvement meets all requirements for TCAC referrals by the Florida DHSMV.

Upon completion of the course, all required information will be mailed directly to the DHSMV.

Court Ordered Students - Four Hour Course

This class is for the student who did NOT elect to take the traffic school, but rather for those who are required by the court to take a course.

Students sent to the course by court order in most instances will be required to remit a copy of their course completion certificate directly to the applicable court.  The respective  Clerks of Court determine the manner in which reporting of completion information is processed.  Regardless, students will be responsible for making sure they get credit for completing the course.

All BDI classes are cash or money order due at the time of class.  You may pay by credit card by calling our office before the class and providing the proper information.  No checks or credit cards can be accepted on the day of the class.  You will need to bring your ticket, driver’s license, social security number and a pen to class.

All B.D.I. classes are approved b the State of Florida and taught by certified instructors.  A certificate will be issued to you at the end of the course, so you can present it to the county where you received your ticket.  This will insure the points for your ticket do not appear on your driving record.

The benefits of Attending Traffic School:

No Points are assessed on your license.

Citation cost reduced up to 18%

Retain “Safe Driver” status on your license

No insurance increase per Florida law

Adjudication is withheld/ Your driving record does not show guilty

Ticket holders from out of state are eligible

Take a voluntary Defensive Driving Course and receive up to a 10%                            discount on your insurance

 Eligibility

After receiving a Florida Traffic ticket, you need to contact the Clerk of the Court in the county where you received the ticket to find out the reduced amount you need to pay when attending Traffic School or this amount might be with the information the officer gave you when you were stopped.  Once you have identified the amount of the payment, send it in along with the ticket and a school election form (Affidavit) to the appropriate address.  Again see the Clerk of Courts link if you need the payment address or a school election form.

 NOTES:

1.  You are eligible to attend traffic school once every 12 months as a election.

2.  You may be able to attend more frequently than once every 12 months, but it must be Judge ordered.

3. You may only attend traffic school 5 times in your lifetime.

4.  You may attend our on-line traffic school at home course instead of an actual in-class traffic school.  It counts just the same.
